Chevrolet Home Charging Options
Electric vehicle charging is easier and more convenient than ever before. The first step involves deciding which type of charger best meets your needs. Keep in mind that Chevy offers a variety
of home chargers to make powering up a breeze, with two charging levels available: Level 1 dual-level cord set and Level 2 dual-level cord set.
The Level 1 Chevy EV charging option gets up to 4 miles per hour of charging time, while Level 2 adds 23 miles each hour. Level 1 chargers are not only portable but compatible with most standard electrical outlets, so you can plug in anywhere! Available Level 2 wall chargers, on the other hand, need a 240-volt appliance-like outlet – or they can be hardwired directly into your house.
Chevrolet also offers an Ultium PowerUP Level 2 charger as well as an Ultium PowerUP+ Level 2 charger. The PowerUP+ charger makes the most of every minute, adding up to 58 miles per hour! Another benefit is that both Ultium PowerUP chargers come Bluetooth- and WiFi-enabled, so they can be easily synced with your MyChevrolet mobile app.
Home Charging Installation
Home installation is required for Chevy’s Dual-Level Cord Set, Level 2 Charger, Ultium PowerUP, or Ultium PowerUP+. Chevrolet has partnered with Qmerit to facilitate installation, so simply complete the online installation form from your mobile phone to get started!
Next, it’s time to decide where you’d like the charger to be installed. Keep in mind that you'll need adequate parking space when charging. The Dual Level Charge Cord reaches 22 feet, while Ultium PowerUP charge cords are a bit longer with a 25-foot reach. Remember to take photos of the desired location and upload them with your installation form.
Once you’ve entered the necessary details, you’ll receive an email from Qmerit detailing your next steps – like scheduling your home installation! As your hometown Chevrolet dealer, we recommend having an electrician test your charger to make sure it was installed properly.
